March 11 - Wildlife of Lake Pleasant Slide Show

March 12 - Fitness with a View
Friday at 9:30 AM: Fitness with a view. Join the ranger for a 4.2 mile fitness hike on a moderate trail. The hike will meet in the Trailhead Staging Area and will take place on the breathtaking Scenic Trail. Non-interpretive hike, exercise oriented. Please make sure to bring plenty of water. March 12 - The Old Roads for Beginners & Mobility Impaired Friday 10:00 am Easy Is your footing a bit wobbly on hiking trails and would you rather walk on a dirt road? This is a great opportunity to casually stroll the old roads of Spur Cross. The outing will include discussions about the Sonoran Desert and a visit the old dude ranch site. March 13 - Elephant Butte Fortress Hike **FULL**
Saturday 7:30 am Very Difficult Hike up, up, up to the spectacular Hohokam archaeology site called the Elephant Fortress. For advanced hikers only, this hike is a 7-mile, 5-hour round trip trek. Bring a lunch, 2 liters of water (minimum), long pants, walking stick and hiking boots. Limited to 30 people, reservations required. Saturday 10:00 am Easy We invite you for a morning of fun exploring the geology of Spur Cross and to visit Hohokam rock art. Tom McGuire, geologist, author and nationally known educator, guides this 2-mile hike. The route includes walking on a road and in a desert wash. 8:00 a.m. Moderate Experience this riparian area and its wildlife along a little known trail while in search of petroglyphs. 20 Mar The Cave in Cave Creek
The DFLT is offering opportunities to see the Preserve at the Cave in Cave Creek. This usually moderatewalk to Cave Creek's famous namesake is an informative tour led by knowledgeable Desert Foothills Land Trust volunteers. Participants will learn how DFLT preserved a rare riparian habitat including a cottonwood and willow forest and permanently protected a fragile archaeological treasure. Space is limited and DFLT members are given first priority. Please bring a hat, sun protection, water, sturdy shoes and binoculars, if you have them. The hike will begin at 9:45 am at the Desert Foothills Land Trust office (7518 E. Elbow Bend Rd. #4B, Carefree) and conclude by 1:00 pm. If you would like to participate, we extend a warm welcome.
